Corporate Investigations

Investigation and intelligence designed to protect organisations from internal and external risk.

Corporate risk usually announces itself late. A vendor turns out to be connected to an employee. A hire's credentials do not survive a second look. Money has been leaving through a route nobody was watching.

We investigate these matters for organisations across India, quietly, so that an enquiry does not itself become the incident. Work is scoped in writing before it begins, kept to the people who need to know, and documented so that it holds up if it goes to a disciplinary panel, a regulator or a court.

We work with HR, legal, finance and founders directly, and we are used to matters where the subject is senior, the timing is sensitive, or both.

Employee background verification

Verification of candidates and existing employees: identity, stated qualifications, employment history and the reasons given for leaving, address, and any record of conduct that bears on the role.

Used at hiring, at promotion into positions of trust, and where an existing employee's stated history has come into question.

Corporate due diligence

Independent enquiry into a company before you commit to it, as an acquisition target, an investee, a joint-venture partner, a distributor or a major customer.

This covers who genuinely controls and benefits from the business, its litigation and regulatory history, the track record and associations of its principals, and whether the operation described on paper matches the one that exists.

Internal fraud investigations

Investigation of suspected fraud inside the organisation: procurement manipulation, false invoicing, kickbacks, inventory loss, expense abuse, collusion between staff and suppliers.

We establish what happened, over what period, who was involved and what it cost, and we document it to a standard that supports whatever action you decide to take.

Vendor and third-party verification

Checks on suppliers, contractors, channel partners and agents before onboarding and during a relationship: whether the entity is real and operating, who owns it, whether it has undisclosed connections to your own staff, and whether its claimed capacity and credentials are genuine.

Particularly relevant where procurement volume is high and vendor onboarding is fast.

Financial misconduct investigations

Enquiry into financial irregularity: misappropriation, falsified accounts, unauthorised transactions, undisclosed related-party dealing, or funds moving in ways that have not been explained.

Where accounts, systems or devices need forensic examination, this runs together with our forensic and cyber work rather than being handed to an outside firm.

Asset and financial intelligence

Identifying and tracing assets connected to a company or individual: property, holdings, business interests, and assets held through others.

Used before litigation, to assess whether a judgment or award is worth pursuing, and in recovery after a fraud.

Data leakage and insider investigations

Investigation of confidential information leaving the organisation, whether client data, pricing, designs, strategy or code, and whether taken by a departing employee, an insider still in place, or a third party with access.

We establish what left, by what route, when, and who was responsible, working from systems, devices and access records alongside conventional enquiry.

Workplace investigations

Independent investigation of complaints and conduct matters inside an organisation: harassment, misconduct, retaliation, policy breaches and grievances that are contested.

The value of bringing this outside is that the finding is not seen as the organisation investigating itself. We interview, document, and report on findings of fact, leaving the decision with you.

How a corporate assignment runs

Scope agreed in writing before work begins. Investigation conducted discreetly, with confidentiality maintained inside your organisation as well as outside it. Evidence documented as it is gathered, with continuity preserved. A written report, factual, structured to be used in a disciplinary process, a regulatory response or proceedings.
